Singer Tradition 2250 review

Singer's simplest current mechanical machine. Sold only on the US and UK stores in our checks, under two different references — and absent from the French, Italian and Spanish catalogues.

The bottom line Simple enough to be forgiving, but only worth considering if you are in the US or UK.

What we verified, and why it is the headline. We searched all six Amazon stores. This machine appears on two of them, under two different references: B0FNWBMRSD on amazon.com and B0018KVLYK on amazon.co.uk. It is absent from the German, French, Italian and Spanish catalogues.

That makes it the second product in our first group — after the Janome 230DC — where availability, not quality, is the deciding factor. Readers in continental Europe are sent to a local Amazon search rather than to a product page that does not exist for them.

What the manufacturer states. Almost nothing on either listing beyond the model name. We are not going to reconstruct a specification from other machines in the Tradition line; where the source is empty, this page stays empty.

What we would tell a beginner in France or Spain. Look at the Brother FS40S instead. It is a different machine at a different price, but it is listed under one reference on every store we checked, which means the page you land on is the machine you read about — and that is worth more at this level than any feature comparison.

Why is this machine hard to find in Europe?

We checked six Amazon stores and found it on two. Singer's European range is organised differently from its US one, and the Tradition line is not consistently stocked. If you are in France, Germany, Italy or Spain, the practical choice is between models that are actually listed there — which is why this page exists mainly as a warning.

Is ten stitches enough?

For hems, seams, repairs and a zigzag to stop fraying, yes — that is most home sewing. What you give up is the one-step buttonhole, and buttonholes are the operation beginners most often ruin. That is the trade, and it is a real one.
